Extra Credit Options & Retake Details

Several students and parents have been asking about extra credit options as well as clarification of the retake.  Allow me to set the record straight:

EXTRA CREDIT OPTIONS

1)  Tissue Paper or Kleenex.  We're heading into cold season and the school district no longer supplies classrooms with these important, basic items.  So in an effort to make our learning community hygienic and comfortable, students may bring in a box or two for 5 points extra credit maximum.

2) Holocaust Museum Write-Up.   After reading Anne Frank, as an extension and enrichment activity if anyone had gone in the last 6 months or goes to the museum and writes up a paragraph on the experience, they may bet 10 points of extra credit.

3) The Birberry Awards.  Students may participate in the Birberry Awards here at school and get 5 points for each book they complete with passed quizzes.  The documentation must from our media center specialist.

GRAMMAR TEST RETAKE

Students may take the retake with a parent signature on their post test as well as a completed study packet on Flex Fridays or by appointment during lunch or rec.  The retake grade is capped at 85%, or a B.

Thank You,
Mr. Jonathan Chappell

Anne Frank Quotations

“…in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”

“In the long run, the sharpest weapon of all is a kind and gentle spirit.”

“Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness. People are just people, and all people have faults and shortcomings, but all of us are born with a basic goodness.”

“The best example of this is our own helpers, who have managed to pull us through so far and will hopefully bring us safely to shore… They put on their most cheerful expressions, bring flowers and gifts for birthdays and holidays and are always ready to do what they can. I'm very much looking forward to seeing many of you on Monday 11/14/16 during the normal parent teacher conference hours.

However, on Tuesday evening on 11/15/16 I will not be available due to an unavoidable scheduling conflict.

If you can't attend the parent teacher conferences on Monday and feel that you would like to meet, please come meet with me then.

That, or if you email me ( jc14bps@birmingham.k12.mi.us ), I can either give you a call or arrange to meet on a weekday during my prep period between 9:15 AM and 10:11 AM.

It is truly a pleasure and an honor to teach our fine young people.  I look forward to meeting with you!

Best,
