Micro CERS+ Prompt for Anne Frank, Act 1 Scene 4

DUE DATE:  Friday 4/26/19 at 3:15 pm in Turnitin.com

Act 1, Scene 4

After Anne has a nightmare and seeks solace from her father, she realizes that she’s been cruel to her mother.  She says that she can't help herself, even as her mother is sobbing in the other room.

Some might argue that Anne is under tremendous stress during these difficult circumstances.  As the youngest in the group, she shouldn’t be held accountable for her actions.  As students of history, we shouldn’t judge her.

Others might argue that one demonstrates one’s true nature and character when under pressure.  Who we really are becomes apparent when people stop being nice.  While Anne can’t control the situation, she can control how she reacts to the situation.  Therefore, she should be held accountable for her actions and should be judged for the way that she treated her mom.

Prompt:  Should Anne be judged for her poor behavior toward her mother?

You may collaborate with a partner.  If you do, make sure that each student turns in their individual papers with the names of both student writers listed at the top.

Here is this week's T-Chart Organizer

PRO – Anne should be judged for the way she treated her mom
CON – Anne should not be judged for the way she treated her mom
