Part 3, Chapter 11

1. How has war changed the music program in schools? Use textual evidence to support your answer.

2. How did Mr. Daniels stand up for Ivy?

3. “Susan seemed to have everything, except a friend” (472). Why do you think this is true? Do you think Susan is missing other things in her life?


Part 3, Chapter 12

4. Fernando wrote in his letter: “Loose Lips Sink Ships” (474). What does this mean and how has this impacted the way he communicates with his family?

5. Fernando‛s letter to Ivy talks about his battalion motto. He mentions that he wants to have this same motto for their family. How can the family have the same motto? Use evidence from the text if necessary!
