Finding Treasure Island

We will be watching the 1990 version of the novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.  The academic goal is to compare and contrast the film with our summer read novel, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle.

This particular version is perfect for middle school and stars Charlton Heston as well as Christian Bale.  However, it is difficult to find for students who either miss class, or wish to go deeper.

Here are a few suggestions. 

First, make sure that you use the 1990 version starring Charlton Heston.  There are numerous versions of this story including the classic black and white version starring Charles Laughton as well as the newer one with the Muppets.

Second, in the past some students have found it on Netflix streaming, or through Blockbuster video.  I have heard that local libraries also had copies at one point.
